I think people are being a little too harsh on the casting of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and just the entirety of the Superman sequel entirely, so I’m goin to rant a little defending it.
Firstly, I have no idea who Gal is, if she can act and I’ve only seen her in Fast 5 but I found that boring so I couldn’t see what she can do properly. But I feel, like Ben Affleck will be the best Batman/ Bruce Wayne ever, Gal will do a surprisingly perfect job at this.
Now the obvious complaints so far about her saying that she’s too skinny, she looks nothing like Diana, and even some absurd complaints like she’s jewish, israeli and has no boobs are just shallow and ridiculous. Those have nothing to do with Diana being an Amazonian warrior princess. Do her boobs giver her powers of strength and make her a formidable warrior? No. Does her size make her an iconic female hero and aspiration for female fans of the character? I don’t think so. What makes Diana great is her character and what she can do.
I understand that they have to follow some key features to make Wonder Woman the same as any other comic hero going from comic to film, but those complains about Gal do not matter. They’re petty. Can Gal bulk up for the role and put a little more meat and muscle on her bones? Of course she can. There’s this little thing called excersize and weight training that fixes that. Ben Affleck has been doing it lately and so did Henry for Supes and look how big Henry got. Ben is even going over the limit on how much he’s supposed to work out, he’s growing too big for the Batsuit. Can she act? Well if she takes Wonder Woman as seriously as Henry did Superman, Ben did Batman, and heck even all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe actors took their characters seriously, she will portray her perfectly and do her justice and deliver what we’ve all been wanting to see for the longest time.
There’s also this piece of information that came earlier today;
"In the planned Justice League movie, the team will be portrayed as the “United Nations” of superheroes. Apparently, "The concept we’ve heard plays Superman represents the world as a whole (Being an immigrant of Earth he speaks for everyone), Batman would represent the United States with the American Affleck in the cape-and-cowl with the Flash possibly portrayed by an Hispanic or Latino actor and as we saw announced yesterday a Wonder Woman played by an Israeli."

However, if this is true then it makes a lot of sense why they’re going with the unique casting of Gal as Wonder Woman, (which also explains Laurence Fishburne as Perry and talk of Denzel Washington as Lext Luthor) and personally I like this idea a lot and it leads me to believe we will be getting a whole new Wonder Woman with this incarnation of Diana as she comes to her debut on the big screen. We won’t be getting this powerful, admirable, iconic female heroine that is at the same time rather sexualised in her look (despite argument of large boobs = fertility, understandably) but instead we’ll be getting the same powerful, admirable, iconic female heroin that everybody in the world knows about and loves with a new take on her that will gain a newfound interest in the character representing all that she stands for and something more.
I do understand that this is meant to be a sequel to Man of Steel and supposed to carry things on from it but with the casting and other news lately it’s making people lead to conclusions faster than they should aprehend and they’re all forgetting that it will deal with Superman’s actions from Man of Steel, things will be answered that raised questions in the first and we will see Clark Kent be Superman and not just this strange powerful being from another world. Man of Steel was Superman before he was Superman and in Man of Steel 2 we will get Superman as well as expanding more on the DCCU and showing there is more than just Superman in this universe as was clearly and blatantly shown with the mass of easter eggs in Man of Steel.
So with the inclusion of Batman and now Wonder Woman and potentially Lex Luthor and Flash (though Flash we’ll worry about later) we all need to remember this one thing; Man of Steel 2 will deal with the repercussions of Man of Steel as well as open a door into a whole new universe of diverse heroes and that Wonder Woman will be a great surprise to you all and I believe she will be a success in her debut in a live action film.
And now wrapping up, it also disappoints me how quick people jump to conclusions on some things. For the past 30 years of super hero movies we’ve all wanted a Wonder Woman movie and now that we get one everybody complains and critisizes about the casting of her. We don’t deserve Wonder Woman to be in a film if everyone behaves like spoiled children. Zack Snyder and David Goyer have a vision for all this, they know what they are doing and it will work and we just need a little patience to see it all unfold. This is like everybody raining criticism on Karl Benz before he released the first car.
We should all have more hope in this.
So now it’s the 1st December I beter get to writing on my Petey Penguin Christmas comic. Still got to get a better name for it.
So there’s a bunch of free comics going on at comixology. Free first issues of Invincible, Walking Dead, Saga, Sex Criminals and Chew from Image, first issue of Avengers volume 4, and a good 30 odd more.
All I’m seeing so far from reactions of Thor The Dark world is very little of Thor and lots and lots of “Loki! Loki! Loki!” (Although this was my favourite Loki).
What everybody should be asking is; where the fuck is Odin? What did Loki do to Odin?
